Ocean State Soccer Competitive Teams provides a competitive soccer program for players age 8 to 19 (birth year 2000-2011). The Philosophy of Ocean State Soccer program is to create teams where player development, team and individual growth are the main focus based on the player’s skill level.

Ocean State Soccer is committed to placing the players on teams that fit their skills sets and age. The goal is to place players at the appropriate level of play based upon their age, skill sets and game play. Team placement process includes tryout results, assessed by the Ocean State Soccer Competitive Coaches, and Coach’s evaluations from the prior season. Players are placed on teams based on skill level with like players. Requests to play with friends or with certain coaches are neither given priority nor considered for players trying out for competitive teams.  All players are encouraged to participate in the tryout process, but placement on a competitive team is not guaranteed.

Ocean State Soccer selection process is conducted by the Vice President of Competition and the Ocean State Soccer Competitive coaching staff. The goal is to place players on teams that meet their level of play based upon their age, skill sets and game play.

Playing for Ocean State Soccer Competitive team is a commitment. OSS teams play fall, winter and spring.  Currently the majority of our teams play in the Rhode Island Superliga league. We do have teams that participate in the New England Premier (NEP) league, Northeast Soccer League (NSL) and North Atlantic Youth Soccer League. (NAYSL)
